USA South Announces Annual Academic All-Conference Honors

Demorest, GA (06/16/2023) — The USA South Athletic Conference announced its 2022-23 Academic All-Conference Team on June 12, naming 29 Piedmont University student-athletes to the annual academic list.

Piedmont competes as an affiliate member in the USA South in women's golf, women's lacrosse, and men's lacrosse.

In total, more than 1,300 student-athlete earned recognition from the conference. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.30 GPA in each of the two semesters of a given year to be eligible. Piedmont University students who received the honor included Carson Bezold (Aberdeen, Maryland), Merryn Bumpass (Keller, Texas), Jon Cheatham (Cumming, Georgia), Caitlyn Chilito (Calhoun, Georgia), Michael Eisele (Alpharetta, Georgia), Chad Hall (Marietta, Georgia), Sierra Judson (Wethersfield, Connecticut), Jacob Kipp (Birmingham, Alabama), Cameron McDonald (Dacula, Georgia), Brady McGuire (Westminster, Maryland), Abbie Newbern (Hutchinson Island, Florida), Noelle Poteete (Evans, Georgia), Alyssa Reece (Buford, Georgia), Leah Shelt (Grovetown, Georgia), Margaret Spratlin (Canton, Georgia), Ava Trankina (Johns Creek, Georgia), Austin Vaughn (Acworth, Georgia), Rachel Verner (Athens, Georga), Lindley Ward (Snellville, Georgia), and Joshua Fraley (Marietta, Georgia).

Student-athletes earning a 3.90 GPA or above earned the All-Academic honor "With Distinction." Nine Piedmont students earned this honor, including Brigitte Bilderback (Roswell, Georgia), Morgan Calhoun (Loganville, Georgia), Laura Crone (Vienna, Virginia), Cara Crump (Calhoun, Georga), Lauren Knowles (Athens, Georgia), John Matrona (Nutley, New Jersey), Kaylee Moreland (Buford, Georgia), Dezmond Stollings (Georgetown, Texas), and Mallory O'Brien (Suwanee, Georgia).
