The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) has announced its 2023 Scholar All-Americans on Aug. 9, and Piedmont was well-represented with four selections.

Ninety-six Piedmont University students received undergraduate and graduate degrees on Friday, July 21, during a commencement ceremony in the Johnny Mize Athletic Center on the Demorest campus.

A total of 307 Piedmont University students received undergraduate and graduate degrees on Friday, May 5, during two commencement ceremonies. The graduate ceremony was held at 10:30 a.m., with the undergraduate service following at 1:30 p.m. Both were held in the Johnny Mize Athletic Center on the Demorest campus.

Piedmont University Theatre's 2022-23 mainstage season kicked off with Peter and the Starcatcher Oct. 20-23. Based on the 2004 novel by Dave Berry and Ridley Pearson, Peter and the Starcatcher features everyone's favorite forever boy, Peter Pan, and explores themes such as greed, despair, friendship, duty, and even love.

Julia DeMello, a soprano from Dahlonega, Georgia, will present her senior voice recital at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Piedmont University Chapel. The public is invited, and admission is free.

Piedmont University's Communication Sciences and Disorders program continues to make a name for itself, this time with a study to be published in The Cleft-Palate Craniofacial Journal, a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary, international publication. Piedmont student Jaycie Ponce co-authored the article with Communication and Disorders Program Director Dr. Monica Bellon Harn and Rebecca Hancock, a speech-language pathologist who works for Union County Schools.

This spring, three graduates earned master's degrees in health sciences from Piedmont University, and all three were hired in their field before they crossed the commencement stage.

Piedmont University presented The Three Musketeers beginning Feb. 17. Ken Ludwig's The Three Musketeers has been lauded by critics as "the best adaptation of the novel ever written" and came to life on stage under the direction of John F. Spiegel, with assistance from Jonathan Furlow, assistant director, and Sof Delgado, stage manager.

The winners of Piedmont University's 2022 Student Organization & Leaders Awards have been named and were honored at a dinner and ceremony on April 21. The purpose of the awards ceremony is to recognize the exceptional leadership and achievements of Piedmont University's student organizations, students, and advisors.

The Piedmont University Chorale performed a variety of works for chorus in an April 25 concert at the Chapel on the Demorest Campus.

Piedmont University's Instrumental Chamber Ensembles and Wind Ensemble performed free concerts in April. The Instrumental Chamber Ensembles performed the works of Mozart, Beethoven, Bridge, Stein, and other compositions handpicked to showcase their talents during a concert on April 10. The Wind Ensemble performed on April 12.

The Piedmont University Singers, orchestra, and soloists presented the world premiere of a semi-staged oratorio based on the life of Lillian E. Smith composed by Mary Carol Warwick for the university's 125th anniversary. The oratorio is based on the life and pioneering work of civil rights activist Lillian E. Smith. Smith was a writer who penned the best-selling novel "Strange Fruit," about an interracial relationship that takes place in Georgia in the 1920s. She was also active in the Civil Rights Movement and a friend of Martin Luther King Jr. Smith studied at Piedmont University, which is home to the Lillian E. Smith Center, an educational facility and artists' retreat in Clayton, Georgia.

Piedmont University Cantabile, a seven-voice a cappella ensemble, performed on March 29 at the Conservatory of Music in Demorest.
