On Friday, Dec. 12, during a 10 a.m. Commencement ceremony, Piedmont University conferred degrees to more than 190 students, including approximately 75 undergraduate, 70 master's, 40 Education Specialist, and four Doctor of Education degrees.

The Roar, the student media hub of Piedmont University, has been awarded the Division III "Media Website of the Year" by the College Media Association. The award was one of 26 "Pinnacle Awards" received by Piedmont at the College Media Conference in Washington, DC, on Oct. 15-18, by far the most of any college in the Division III category (colleges with fewer than 3,000 students).

The Piedmont University Theatre Department has begun its 2025-26 Mainstage Season with Godspell, performing through Nov. 9. This inspiring musical retells the parables of Jesus Christ and his disciples as told in the Gospel of Matthew.

On Friday, May 9, in two ceremonies, Piedmont University conferred undergraduate degrees to more than 205 students, including 148 first-generation students, and 164 graduate students, including master's, EdS, and doctorate degrees. The ceremonies were held at the Johnny Mize Athletic Center on the Demorest campus.

Alumni Day 2025 brought energy, pride, and celebration to Piedmont University's Demorest campus as graduates returned for a full day of events-and to recognize some of Piedmont's most distinguished alumni. From a morning Alumni Association breakfast and wetlands walk to basketball games and a Chamber Singers reunion, the schedule reflected Piedmont's vibrant campus spirit. The highlight of the day, however, was the honoring of the 2025 Alumni Award recipients-an accomplished group that includes a professional baseball player and a former teacher who helped name the space shuttle Endeavour.

The Piedmont University Chamber Ensembles Spring concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on April 17 in the university chapel. Styles represented include classical and slow blues, swing, mambo, and bossa nova. The performance will feature music for both piano ensemble and jazz ensemble by Gabriel Faure, Maurice Ravel, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Duke Ellington, Neal Hefti, Louis Prima, Moises Simons, and Chris Sharp.

For the second year, Piedmont University students are participating in an accounting course this semester that will help community members in Habersham and Banks counties with federal and state income tax preparation at no cost to them. This course is part of the Internal Revenue Service's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

Sixteen Piedmont Univerity students were inducted into the R.H. Daniel School of Nursing Honor Society on Wednesday, Feb. 19, in the auditorium of Stewart Hall. Students selected to be inducted into the Honor Society are in the top 15 percent of their class.

More than two dozen Piedmont University students are working together to bring 9 to 5: The Musical to the stage for performances Feb. 13-16. With music written by Dolly Parton, the musical is based on the 1980s movie and takes a comedic look at the 1970s workplace.

The ceremony was held at the Johnny Mize Athletic Center on the Demorest campus. Professor Mark Evans, College of Education, and the 2024 Vulcan Teaching Excellence Award winner, was the guest speaker.

Dozens of Piedmont University students will help bring the Annual Service of Lessons and Carols to the community Dec. 6-7 as the holiday event enters its 36th year.

Piedmont students involved in Roar Student Media won 15 Pinnacle Awards at the National College Media Conference, held Oct. 30-Nov. 2 in New Orleans. Competing in the Division III classification, which includes colleges and universities with less than 5,000 students, Piedmont students earned a record five first-place Pinnacle Awards, the highest award in college media.

The Piedmont University Singers, under the direction of Music Professor Bobby Ivey, will present a Fall Concert on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 P.M. in the Piedmont University Chapel. More than 30 Piedmont students will perform.

The Piedmont University Theatre Department launched its 2024-25 Mainstage season with The Laramie Project Oct. 3-6. The play aims to promote dialogue about equality, acceptance, and tolerance.

At just 18 years old, Reagen Pattishall's track cycling prowess has taken her to destinations across the U.S. and even beyond its borders. Now, it brings her to Piedmont University with dreams of the Olympics.
